My TBR goals for last month sort of happened I did not get into the Rebel of the Sands trilogy because I just did not have the time to invest in it. I really don’t know when I will have the time to delve into that trilogy. It is important that I have the time to really just focus on that that story only. There is a lot of studying and work coming up in the next few months, so perhaps August will be better for that series. My April TBR is a little less intense. Most of the books are easy, anecdotal books, which I find to be quicker reads. Additionally one is a book club book that I’m working through with my best friends. Finally, I have a couple of books that the publishers kindly sent me in exchange for an honest review.

#GirlBoss
If you haven’t heard of GirlBoss yet, you must be living under a rock. I have wanted to read it for a while, but could never really invest my time in it. However, it is easy to read and while it keeps me interested, I don’t feel like I will be staying up way past my bed time reading. Sophia Amoruso busted her ass to get where she is today. I want to learn from her. Not in the step by step guide sort of way. More in the, how do you just keep grinding and not become completely beaten down kind of way.
Text Me When You Get Home
I heard about this book through the Girls Night In Club Newsletter. Did you subscribe, yet? JUST DO IT. This was GNI’s book club read for March. My two best friends and I have wanted to start a book club for a while now. Unfortunately, we struggled to find a book that all of us are interested in. It was also hard for us to find the time. Between work, families, and other interests, there aren’t enough hours in the day. We decided to make this a priority and find the time. This book has been the perfect inaugural book. It discusses the power and importance in female friendships. There are some things I don’t necessarily agree with, and will like do a whole post on in a bit. As a whole, however, I have really enjoyed it. We are reading a couple of chapters a week, and we pick a new cocktail each week to try out during our e-club meeting.
The City of Lost Fortunes
This is one of two books I was provided an advanced copy of through Edelweiss. I was downright giddy when I received the email that I had been approved. This book combines magic, gods, New Orleans and a mystery into a tale that has me chomping at the bit to keep reading. This is a book that I fear will keep me up well past my bed time because I just can’t put it down. I am only a couple of chapters in, but I expect to speed through it, and have a review up shortly.
Slender is the Thread
If you’re new here, you may not know that I am a Public Defender in a small, Appalachian town in Kentucky. I’ve been here for three years and in that time I have seen and heard some pretty crazy tales. The prosecutor in the county where I primarily work gave me this book. He felt I had been in the area long enough to truly appreciate the author’s “memoir.” I use quotation marks, because the Judge in that same county made sure I knew he feels it is more fiction than reality. Either way, I have found the book hilarious from the second paragraph. I cannot begin to truly know the veracity of these stories, however if they were 100% true, I would not at all be surprised.
