Every Sunday, like clockwork, I sit down at my desk or on my couch, or in my bed and I plan out my week. Planning out my week is such an important part of my weekend. It helps me de-stress and gives me an overview of what is in store for my week. I thought I would give you a peak at my planner and my process. Keep in mind this is not how I goal plan or anything of that nature. This is merely how I plan out my week.
My planner is a bright yellow large Kikki K planner. I originally wanted one in black or nude, but when I saw the bright yellow I knew it was just right for me. It goes with black, brown or navy blue, something I really need for my professional life. It is also bright enough that I don’t forget about it. So let’s take a look inside.
The first thing in my planner is a list of Daily Habits from the 30 day Day Designer challenge. I try to do all of these things every day. Obviously, not every task gets done each day, but I try to do as many of them as possible.
Next is a monthly calendar. This is an overview of my month. I include the posts that I want to publish on the blog, major events, trips, important dates, etc.
The next section is my daily planning page. I use these pages from Day Designer.
(Full Disclosure: There is an affiliate link below to their shop. I signed up for the affiliate program because I have been using these pages for over a year and love this brand with all of my heart.)
There are 6 parts to the anatomy of the Day Designer page.
At the top is a Top Three to do. These are the high priority things that HAVE to get done that day. Next to that is sort of a dashboard of important things: Exercise/Health habit, What’s for Dinner, Something Due, Bills/Money, Don’t Forget.
Then it is the Daily Schedule next to your To-Do list. I like to color code my Daily Schedule, it helps me to better visualize what is going on that day. I also try not to brain dump on my to-do list. Every couple weeks, I write a huge brain dump list of all the things I need to do, home, office, and personal. But that list is overwhelming and it evolves as time goes on. Because of that, I try to keep my daily to-do list on the lighter side. As the day goes on and the calls start coming in, I add or modify the list. At the end of the day, tasks that didn’t get completed get migrated over to other days. As you can see, I also try to keep my to-do list grouped in categories: work, personal, home, and blog. Finally at the bottom is a place to keep notes, a section for meal planning, and that heart is where you list your daily gratitude.
The last section is a dot grid matrix section that I use for blog idea and outlines, social media posts and general notes.
I’ve also included a couple of shots of the various planner accessories I use: washi tape, glue tape, MAMBI pages, sticky notes, sticky flags, paperclips, etc.
