My Bag Must Haves

I’ve been wanting to post this for a while. I love when people post “What’s in my bag?” blogs and vlogs, because, frankly, I’m nosy. I also sometimes get ideas of things that I’ve needed from time to time, but never thought to throw in there. Typically I carry a large tote bag to work, because I have files and notepads and pens that I need to take with me to the jail. It is just easier to have a giant bag that I can throw it all in. On weekends, though, I usually carry a smaller bag, and as you can see I keep everything in smaller containers to make the transition a bit easier. For all those people who are nosy like me, here is what is in my bag right now!

A water bottle: I always fill up a reusable water bottle on my way out the door. I know how important it is to get the required water intake every day, and I don’t like bottle of water (too expensive and horrible for the environment. Recently, I have been carrying this canteen by Corkcicle. It keeps my water cold for up to 25 hours, there is no bottle sweating, no leaking, it is seriously out of this world amazing! It comes in 4 different sizes and a variety of colors, there are also different styles. I have the 25 oz Canteen in Merlot, which you can buy here. I also have 24 oz Tumbler in Caribbean Green, which you can buy here.

Chapstick and forty other lipsticks: I keep a small cosmetic bag that I can easily throw into any bag that I’m using. Typically I have a pressed powder, lotion, a couple of Blistex Chapsticks (which are my holy grail chapsticks), and approximately 45 red and nude lipsticks. I have serious problem, but truthfully cannot stop myself.

My Planner: While I eat breakfast each morning, I take a little bit of time to check my planner. I look at my schedule and my to do lists. I migrate anything I think needs to wait till further in the week to another day and I prioritize what needs to happen today. In order to do all of this, I use my Day Designer pages. At some point I will do an in depth look at my planner, but what you need to know for these purposes is that I try to always have my planner on me.

Sunglasses and a case: I am NOTORIOUS for losing/breaking/scratching sunglasses. For that reason, I will not let myself buy expensive sunglasses. I made a deal with myself, though, if I can keep a pair of sunglasses for one year without major cracks, scratches, or breaks, then I will invest in a good pair of glasses. So right now I have a pair of cheap Target sunglasses, but they are in a case and it has been four months without any major issues.

Tech: Another given, I would say. My phone is an iPhone 6s. I got the charger from Ban.do years ago, but here is a similar option. The headphones are a pair of cheap gold earbuds that I found here on Amazon. I’m sure the sound quality isn’t great, but honestly I use them to drown out co-workers on their phones and while I work out, so it doesn’t really matter to me.

My Wallet: I think this is probably a given for most people. My wallet was a gift from my mom; it’s called the Uptown Organizer Wallet. It can also be carried as a clutch and as a pocket for my phone and a lipstick or chapstick. I’m pretty obsessed with it.

Last but not least, a pack of gum: I inhale coffee throughout the day. As much as I love coffee, the worst taste is the taste of stale coffee. So I always try to keep a pack of gum or breath mints in my bag.

Lest anyone forget, Remington needed to make sure everyone knew he was here. Trying to take pictures with this munchkin is not easy. You’ll notice that decidedly absent from my pictures are writing utensils and books, both of which you may expect me to have millions of. My assortment of pens varies from day to day, ideally I have a couple of PaperMate InkJoys, a Pilot G2, and some sort of felt tip pen. Whether I bring a book with me depends on the size of the book I’m most actively reading. If it is going to be too much added weight or take up too much space, I always keep a couple of books downloaded on the Kindle app on my phone to read on the go or at the gym. So there you have it, all of the crap I shove into my bag on a daily basis. Let me know what you think in the comments below!
