If you’re a book person, you probably are very familiar with the concept of a “To Be Read” pile. Unfortunately, mine is starting to feel more like a mountain. I have a terrible habit of buying books a bunch of books with the intention of reading them right away. Then inevitably a new book gets released or I feel like reading a completely different genre and next thing I know, I have completely set aside all the books I just bought. In an effort to remedy this I decided to take part in a Shop Your Shelf September.
The other day I tried to pull as many of the books on my shelves that I hadn’t yet read. I knew there were a lot but I honestly didn’t realize it was going to be almost as tall as me. I know I said I would be shopping my shelf this September. I’m hoping by pulling all of these and really seeing how deep my book buying problem is I can spend more time with the books I already own. I do have a couple of books that I have preordered, but I did that months ago. So it doesn’t count, right?
Right now I’m reading The Way of Kings, and I expect I will want to continue to barrel through those initially. On top of that, I will also keep either a book on my phone or a much smaller book for my bag. Sanderson’s thousand-plus page tomes are not good for hauling in your purse. I’m definitely going to pick up some rom coms on the weekends. They tend to be quick and easy reads for me. Plus, RomComs cheer me up. I know I want to read Queen of Air and Darkness in October. I also know I want to save Keeper of the Lost Cities Nightfall for the end of September. I’ve been holding off on that series so that I’m not waiting too long for the newest release.
Wish me luck and self-control on this new book buying ban. Are you going to shop your shelf this September?
