I have a lot wandering to look forward to over the next few months. It has been a really long time since I have been able to travel this much. I really haven’t been living up to my blog name.
August
In August, I drive back to my hometown for my best friend, Marcie’s bridal shower. Luckily, I will also get to celebrate my birthday while I’m home with my family and friends. It has been a few years since I have been able to do that. My birthday isn’t always the happiest time in my life (getting older, some bad memories associated with that time, etc.) but getting to see loved ones makes it all a little bit better. I will likely leave work early to begin the sojourn with a benadryl-ed dog.
September
In September, my friends and I head to New Orleans for the same friend’s bachelorette party. The bride, Marcie, and I have been friends since the second grade, but we met our friend, Dakota, through a band we all loved. Fast forward nine years, thousands of miles driven together, and we are headed to our perfect locale. We love to eat and drink, but music is what brought us together. While we can find fun in any city, but a picturesque city with such a vibrant history, food that is to die for and live music around every corner? That is the kind of place to go when we are closing a chapter on our lives.
I’ve never been to NOLA before and seriously guys, I CANNOT WAIT. I’ve already looked up a couple of bookstores I want to check out, and the food. Praise be Lord, I can not stop thinking about the food. We are going for four days, and I anticipate we will all be gaining 15 pounds. New Orleans has been on my bucket list for a while. I anticipate hours of wandering through beautiful architecture, hearing live music around every corner, and eating more beignets than humanly possible.
October
I mosey out to the Outer Banks in October for Marcie’s wedding. As of right now, I’m not sure if I can make it for the whole week, but at the very least, I will be there Wednesday through Saturday. Marcie likes to eat good food. Consequently, her wedding celebrations will be filled with awesome food. There will be a Welcome Barbecue, two happy hours (before and after the ceremony), the reception, and a hangover brunch the following morning. I heard something about a donut bar, but I’m not too sure what that’s all about. I’m so excited to be there with her for her big day. It really means a lot that I get to stand with her while she makes these vows. Unfortunately, I have to climb a lot of stairs. I broke my ankle at the last wedding. Needless to say, I have concerns.
