If you’ve been keeping up with me, you know that I had a big change in my life recently. I moved to a new city, began a new career, and am basically starting over from scratch. These are all very exciting changes, but that doesn’t mean it hasn’t been stressful. Last weekend was the first weekend in over a month that wasn’t wall to wall jam-packed with things to do. Even then, I still had to assemble my couch and haul out boxes. All that is to say, I have a ton of reading I want to do this weekend.
First I want to dive a bit deeper into Elantris by Brandon Sanderson. Sanderson’s debut novel does not disappoint. The lack of a magic system (at least initially) is so jarring. I read so much Mistborn fairly steadily for six months, so I keep waiting for someone to burn metal. There is also a very interesting mystery happening. I cannot wait to see how this story develops.
Also, I finally got Finale in the mail Thursday (after a bit of a snafu with forgetting about changes in address). I definitely will be spending some serious time with the third book in the Caraval trilogy. I honestly have no theories as to how this story will end. It is so original that I cannot wait to see where it will take me next.
Enough with my reading plans, here is some weekend reading for you!
My life has been slammed recently. I feel like everywhere I turn I have something else that needs to be done. I really found comfort in this blog about making time for yourself.
This website tested all of the hair ties and ranked them so you don’t have to.
If there are two things that I like, it is space and Maria Popova of Brain Pickings. Thankfully, she combined those two things at a recent event, The Universe in Verse. Here you can watch Regina Spektor read Theories of Everything from that event.
When I moved, I got rid of a lot of stuff including a lot of crappy plastic tupperware. Instead, I invested in glassware that is much sturdier. I’m trying to live a bit greener and will be utilizing some of these tips.
These pickled onions are great and I will definitely be making more this weekend!
Enjoy your weekend reading, I know I will!!
