Synopsis

Chemistry is my love language.

I’ve always been able to separate feelings from chemosignals. A shot of dopamine, a dash of serotonin, and a sprinkle of oxytocin—and bam. You’re in love.

And when egg meets sperm, you’re pregnant.

I couldn’t even be surprised as I stared down at the little blue plus sign, because I knew exactly when and how, and with whom it happened.

When: approximately five weeks ago.
Who: one night stand.
How: prophylactic malfunction.

The upside? I don’t have to go looking for a suitable mate.

Genetically, he’s the cream of the crop. His musculature is a study in symmetry and strength, his height imposing and dominant. He is a man who thrives on control and command, a man who survives on intelligence and resourcefulness. A perfect male specimen.

And the whole package is wrapped up in a flawlessly tailored suit.

I’m having this baby, and he insists we’re well-suited to have it together. And what’s worse? He wants more, in the way of love and marriage.

But love isn’t real. It’s just a product of chemistry.

And if he changes my mind about that, we’re both in trouble.

My Review

I was kindly provided an Advanced Reader Copy of this book by the publisher in exchange for my honest review of the book. All thoughts and opinions are my own.

As I have said time and again, I absolutely love Staci Hart. She is one of my favorite romantic comedy writers. The Red Lipstick Coalition has been one of my favorite series to read, and Well Suited did not disappoint. I keep calling this the epic conclusion because honestly, I have been waiting for someone to end up with Katherine since book one.

Katherine is the most analytical of the Red Lipstick Coalition. She works at the New York Public Library and relies on facts and science, not emotions or magic. She meets Theo, Thomas Bane’s brother, and manager, before a night of dancing at the swing club. To say they hit it off is an understatement. They both quickly realize that there is a connection and act on it.

Five weeks later, Katherine realizes that she is pregnant and Theo has a proposal for her: move in together for the baby. What ensues is nothing short of hijinks and shenanigans. Theo tries to show Katherine that they can have a real relationship full of companionship, mutual understanding and dare I say it, love.

Once again, Staci Hart creates characters that are relatable and entertaining. As you learn more and more of Katherine’s back story, you begin to understand why she struggles with intangibles. Eventually, we meet Katherine’s mom and all the pieces fall into place. If you’ve ever watched Modern Family, I pictured Shelley Long’s character, DeeDee every single time Sparrow was mentioned.

The relationship is not easy, in fact it is quite complicated. Staci Hart has this ability to create stories that feel real and fully developed without unnecessary angst. There are many contemporary romance novels that make me feel like the author just inserts some sort of conflict just so that there can be a make up. Hart’s conflict develops naturally. You can see conflict coming and you understand that it needs to happen for both characters to come fully grown.

Not only are we gifted with peaks into the lives of Rin and Val, but we also get to see Amelia and Thomas after the events of Work in Progress. It was fantastic to see this tribe yet again. They are such a fantastic group of friends, who have truly become family. It always warms my heart to see women supporting other women, even in fiction.

Staci Hart finished off the Red Lipstick Coalition with a perfect ending filled with love, quirk, and a healthy helping steam. Hart’s romantic comedies have my heart. I truly cannot wait to see what she publishes next.
