Since I took the bar, I have been living with my parents in the hills of Pennsylvania. Normally I love being here in the fall because it’s beautiful as the leaves change. What I’ve apparently forgotten is what golden rod does to my sinuses. I have terrible seasonal allergies, and it has been making my days truly miserable. So these are a few of the things that have been brightening my sneezing and coughing filled days.
First, I’m loving these Stabilo Point 88 pens. There are so many colors and they write so smoothly. I’m pretty intense about my writing tools. I previously exclusively used Pilot G-2 black ink pens. Sometimes, though, I just need a bit of color, which is where these come in. I love using it to color code my planner.
Speaking of which, I’m OBSESSED with my Kate Spade Planner. I can’t function without lists and a schedule. Too much to do in a day. My planner helps to keep me on task and makes sure that every thing gets done. I keep post its stored in the front cover as well as some fun stickers to keep everything fun. Keeping it fun makes me more devoted to getting everything done.
For me fall makeup is all about the lips. I like to do a simple eye with some eyeliner and mascara, with a nice berry lip. In my mind that’s what fall is all about. I transition back to a liquid foundation from my summer essentials of Laura Mercier tinted moisturizer and bareMinerals iD powder.
I’ve been obsessively watching Outlander and the Blacklist. Outlander is an adaptation of Donna Gabladon’s series by the same name. It is set in Scotland in the 1700s. The scenery is gorgeous and don’t even get me started on the Scottish men. I recently found out that I’m descended from the Craig clan so I think the obsession is my heritage calling out to me. It’s all about a woman falling through time, trying to return to her home and every thing that happens along the way, including love and war. The Blacklist is different yet the same, love and war play the central theme. It’s all about an FBI team working with one of the most wanted fugitives to catch the criminals they have never even heard of. Plus James Spader is the main character, so how can it be bad? Outlander is on Saturdays at 9PM EST on Starz and The Blacklist is on Mondays at 10PM EST on NBC.
The last thing I’ve been loving is something that made me think. It’s an article that I read on TheEveryGirl. It is called The New Meaning of Luxury, and is all about how our generation has changed the definition of luxury. It no longer necessarily means a nice car and a new home. Now, it means a perfectly prepared cup of coffee or a perfectly curated art exhibit. It really reminds me every day to enjoy the little things because that’s what matters. For me luxury is a good cup of coffee while I read the newspaper or sitting for hours in front of Waterlilies at the Cleveland Museum of Art.
